Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first championship after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since that period of 2023.

The win also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters together, so to get a trophy is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his last six finals, including in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had led commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the elite level was finished.

But the player has made changes in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and play positively, backed up by an enhanced service.

He recovered from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The pair traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial tour victory, took control to create a decider.

The opponent defended four early break points in a close third set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he earned victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent incapable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
